Today's photo of the day is in a style that is far different than my normal.
Because of my normal preference, I didn't really like it at first, but it's grown on me. It's weird and it's off, and I generally tend toward clear and intentional techniques. This is why I generally dislike motion blur and grainy images and straight-forward lighting. I also tend toward the wide angle and extreme angles of shooting. It's funner and more interesting to me. This was shot on a standard 85mm.
But this image somehow works for me. It's somewhere between the cheap flash effect and an intentionally odd look. It really does make you wonder what is happening, why is it happening, and where is all the blue coming from? Why is the brightest part of the images pulling you to both the moon and the bushes, instead of the subject? Why is the subject so distracted from the camera?
But there is also a sense of unity, to me. Something along the lines of werewolves and dancing in the moonlight that makes me love the image.
Thanks for the great shoot, Seanmichael Rau Pole
